SO WHAT IS MY DIRTY SECRET?!
Almost everything that comes in contact with your paint will scratch it and create swirls. From your kids writing "wash me" on the back to your local "soft touch" car wash that treats your paint like a belt sander and even including the way you were taught how to "properly" hand wash your car. So, what causes the most swirls? You won't believe it, but it's improper washing and drying. Remember, almost everything that comes in contact with your paint will scratch it and create swirls. Most of the time when you're touching your car, you're washing and drying it. Which is why we've come up with the only way to truly deliver a scratch and swirl free wash, which is what we like to call My Dirty Secret:
- Wash your wheels, tires and wheel wells using a premium eco-friendly
wheel and tire cleaner.
- Give your car a complete rinse to wash away all loose dirt and debris from the car.
- Use a state of the art eco-friendly and extremely high
lubricating specialty foam to break down the existing
dirt.
- While
the foam is breaking down dirt and debris we use 2
buckets equipped with Grit Guards to keep our premium wash
mitts cleaner than new while we gently agitate and break free
all the rest of the existing dirt and debris.
- The car is washed starting from:
- The
roof to the glass all around.
- Then
the hood & trunk or hatch get washed.
- Then
the sides halfway down the panels.
- Lastly, the bumpers and then the bottom half of the panels.
- Then
100% deionized water is used for a 100% spot free rinse.
- Hand dry excess water using premium microfiber towels.
- Interior
and exterior windows are cleaned using a tint safe glass cleaner.
- Door
jambs are thoroughly wiped clean.
- Tires
are dressed with a premium eco-friendly and
rejuvenating dressing.
Truth about "soft touch" carwashes
To be blunt, soft touch car washes are the worst for your paint. When you go through a soft touch carwash, the foam scrubbers that rub against your car are taking and grabbing the contaminates and dirt that are on your car and washing your car with those contaminates and dirt. On top of what those foam scrubbers are grabbing from your car to wash your car, the road tar from the guy's car before you is now being smeared onto your car. Along with the tree sap from the guy before him and even the mud off truck before that guy who just got back from a weekend of mudding with his buddies.
WHAT IS A GRIT GUARD?A Grit Guard is a plastic grate with baffles that you place inside your bucket. The grate helps trap all the dirt and debris in the bottom of the bucket. The baffles prevent the dirt and debris from getting stirred up when you're dunking your wash mitt or brush. Or in other words, keeps the dirt that creates the most scratches and swirls stored away off your car in a safe place.
It really is impressive how well they work. The Pictures shown are from use on one car that I wouldn't consider filthy. The dirty water is the rinse bucket and the clean is the wash bucket. The pictures were not modified, not filtered, and the buckets were not altered in any way. The water level is the same and they are both equipped with a Grit Guard. |
WHAT IS DEIONIZED WATER?
Water spots are created by hard water, or water that has minerals in it. Deionized water is mineral free water. There are many different ways to filter minerals out of water. We use what is called a dual bed, or a dual tank, deionizer. Supply water runs through 2 tanks filled with 2 different types of ion exchange resins that produce laboratory grade water. Or 100% pure mineral free water allowing for a 100% spot free rinse. |
WHY WATER BASED DRESSINGS?
There are 3 main types of trim and tire dressings made out of solvent, silicone and water. Silicone based dressings are the ones that leave that oily residue when you wipe your finger across it, generally significantly cheaper as well. Solvent based dressings will evaporate. Since it's a chemical that does so, it naturally hardens what it's used on over time. A water based dressing will actually condition and rejuvenate your trim & tires. Best part with water based dressings is they're also eco-friendly! |
